The "new" Mifflin
I love Mifflin. It is what I look forward to the most in the spring semester. It is a fun time when everyone gets together, friends or not. It is the beginning of spring and the end of the semester.
It hasn't even been 12 hours and the video by Lori Berquam has already gone viral (I'm pretty sure Minnesota is making fun of us already). If you have been hiding under a rock today here is what it is about: she warns people not to go to Mifflin Street Block party. It originated as a protest and has turned into an event all about drinking while telling us "just don't go" about 6 times.
I understand completely why the authorities and school figures do not want their students going to Mifflin, anyone with a right mind can "understand". Bad things do happen, and people do make mistakes. Here is what I find amusing though, I feel as though she is using the same reasoning as not to have sex. "Just don't go". From what I know that just makes people want to do it more. Not telling people to go isn't going to stop anyone. Oh and having "Cinco de Mayo" as offensive isn't a valid point.
I also find it funny how she says "It makes smart people do dumb things." Maybe instead of putting down your student body why not try to talk about the dangers of going. I have gone for 2 years now and don't feel I have done anything too dumb and I have people I know that could say the same.
There is also the case of last year being too rowdy and now it has to be tranquilized. I'm sorry but last year was all due to how there were open intoxicants allowed in the streets. Because of something they decided, bad things happened and now we are getting punished for it. My freshman year there was the rule of nothing allowed on public property, people followed it and no one got stabbed.
Her video was a joke. No one took it seriously. It didn't get anything accomplished and made us Wisconsin students look stupid.
Mifflin is going to happen, if they like it or not. If not on Mifflin then on Langdon, we all know how us Greeks like to party. People are going to drink, like it or not, we are in college, we like to have fun, and it's spring. Threatening us isn't the way to go though. Give us a safe environment to make sure we don't get too out of control and take care of your students instead of intentionally trying to make sure we have criminal records. But please, remember to stay safe and don't do anything you wouldn't want your mother to know you did.

18 things I wish I knew at 18
1) Don't look back. It will get better.
2) Don't waste all your time going out. Take some time to study and learn new things. By staying in one night you really won't miss out on anything.
3) Don't have more than 4 drinks. Ever. No reason. It only leads to bad things and regrets.
4) Friends will come and go. It's the ones that listen to you talk about the same things over and over without complaint that will be there for you in the end.
5) College is a time to meet new people, explore new things, and learn endless amounts of information. Take advantage of it.
6) Guys don't really care. All they really want is to go to bed with you.
7) With that being said, guys that can't even get it up aren't worth it either. Don't waste your time
8) If you knew him at 15, he's a bad kisser.
9) Don't waste time crying over guys. There are better ones out there. And smarter ones. And bigger ones (yes I mean "bigger"). And ones that care. If you doubt it, move on.
10) People that can't commit to real relationships are wimps. If he can't even commit to one person run away. "It's complicated" isn't a relationship. Being with one person isn't complicated. It's hard, yeah, but but pretty straightfoward.
11) Try to look nice all the time because on your worst days you will see the man of your dreams in Starbucks (JJ <3).
12) Work out every day. When you look better you feel better.
13) Don't be afraid to talk to new people. They will surprise you.
14) Visit all your friends in the summer. You never know when you will be able to go cross country like that again.
15) Stay in touch with old friends. It's nice to see how much people improved (or didn't) after high school.
16) Never be afraid to speak your mind. If they don't accept it, they're not worth it.
17) If you think someone's a jerk, they probably are.
18) Don't worry so much. Everything works out in the end.

Moving on
I miss the way we used to be
The way that you would rush home to hang out
The way you would include me in your plans
The way you looked at me
The way that you knew exactly what to say
I miss how you made me feel
How every time my phone rang it was you
How you made me smile
How we could talk for hours and not even feel like a minute
How you used to care so much
But that is all the past
You are not what you seemed
And I have to move on
Because living my life as a what if will only make me hate you more.
The way that you would rush home to hang out
The way you would include me in your plans
The way you looked at me
The way that you knew exactly what to say
I miss how you made me feel
How every time my phone rang it was you
How you made me smile
How we could talk for hours and not even feel like a minute
How you used to care so much
But that is all the past
You are not what you seemed
And I have to move on
Because living my life as a what if will only make me hate you more.

Road Not Taken
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I marked the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Dia de Madres
Today was Mothers' Day. I hope everyone took the time out of their day to tell their moms how much they mean to them.
My mom and I :)
Finals. Suck.
Although I haven't had any yet the thought of having to take one Tuesday is painful. I really don't understand the whole concept of exams anyways. Everyone right now is taking extra trips to the library pretending as though they have been there many times this semester.
'
Only a few days left in Madison. I'm not ready to go back yet. I feel as though I really don't have much for me in Lakeville. Can someone please tell me why I decided to go back for the summer? Whatever, I'm going to make the most of it. Gotta find a way to have fun somehow, right?
My family finally got the new puppy though! So cute :) I am excited to go home to that.
Ella is on the left. Tootsie on the right. haha.
A loving relationship is one in which the loved one is free to be himself to laugh with me,
but never at me;
to cry with me, but never because of me;
to love life, to love himself, to love being loved.
Such a relationship is based upon freedom and can never grow in a jealous heart.

Yesterday marks history
Every day that passes is new history, but yesterday was monumental. Osama bin Laden has been found and killed. As happy as I was to hear this (just like every American) it is sad to know that someone could have lived their life with so much evil. I feel bad for him. He achieved happiness and satisfaction by murder and seeing sadness in others. One thing I find disturbing is having his picture all over the internet. No matter who he is, how many bad things he did, or how many people he murdered, no ones shot head should be all over the internet.
Now on to lighter things. Mifflin was this weekend, or was it??? Hmm at least I have pictures to tell me what happened. Great seeing people from my hometown. Mifflin has to be the best day out of the year (other than my birthday and Christmas of course!). I love seeing people :)
last week of classes. WOOHOO! Not quite ready to go back home yet though.
Comment and let me know what you think :)
"I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that."

Live righteously.
I'm in a very motivation mood today. Maybe in part I finished my Independent Project for my psychology class that have been working on since the second week of semester. (AND I TURNED IT IN!)
I chose this song not only because I love it, but I love the message portrays. I feel like there is so much today that make people feel bad about themselves, but why? Everyone should know that no matter what anyone says they are amazing. Never let anyone tell you differently.
mifflin.T-3days.
What do you all think of my SAF hat? It even has a Fanny Pack on it. Yeah. Ragin' hardcore.
I'm gonna watch Glee. Haven't seen this episode yet and I heard it was good. Love Glee. Especially Cory Monteith. This is our engagement picture ;)
MM tall, and can sing, yeah.
"It's often just enough to be with someone.
You dont need to touch them. Not even talk.
A feeling passes between you both.
You're not alone."
